Performance, efficiency, comfort...these are all components we enjoy and expect from new Volvo models. Today's component, perhaps the most important, is safety.  You can count on Volvo to deliver solid safety technology, and it's working diligently to do so through a new model refresh of the Volvo XC90.

Volvo will install three new cutting-edge safety technologies in the XC90, one of which is Pedestrian Detection in darkness. This technology does just as its title implies; as it activates detection and auto brake technology, and it works on pedestrians, vehicles and cyclists.

Another feature will include Road edge and barrier detection with steer assist. No one should ever drive while drowsy or find themselves distracted, but in the event that the vehicle finds its way off the road, this technology keeps you in check. It detects if the car is about to go off the road, and it applies steering torque accordingly. This, as is the aforementioned technology in the dark, is a world first.

The third technology we are eager to see in the XC90 is Adaptive Cruise Control with steer assist. Going 40 mph with cruise control may work when the road is relatively clear, but if the cars around you pick up or slow down, you find yourself turning it off. This technology responds to the rhythm of traffic by following those ahead of you.

This certainly sounds like a fantastic roundup of safety features that our customers who enter Volvo Marin here in Corte Madera, CA will appreciate. Visit us today, and our expert staff will be happy to help you.
