Many great ideas come from a pooling of great minds, and we at Volvo Marin are glad that Volvo took the initiative by encouraging customers to voice their ideas via social media. More specifically, Volvo's crowdsourced its Facebook fans asking them what they'd like to see on Volvo on Call (a mobile app that will explain in a moment), and the company's received a wave of responses.

First, Volvo on Call is a service that keeps you always in check with your Volvo. Not sure if you locked the car? You can provide yourself a piece of mind by using your phone. You can do the same with finding your car or viewing your fuel level and battery charge. On cold winter days, you can set the heater on. It's certainly convenience in your pocket.

It sounds Volvo on-Call already has a decent number of features, but, as the cliché goes, there's always room for improvement. Among the thousands of responses, there was one common answer that resonated with customers: make on-Call simplify the driver's experience and let the driver really take control.

Following that request, customers had other requests like implementing a feature that could locate car keys (we've all misplaced them one time or another). Another feature request is the ability to pay parking via the application (how excellent would that be?). Another request was to set a reminder when parking is about to expire (a good way to save paying the big bucks). Finally, another popular request was to create a notification of where the nearest gas stations are when the tank gets low.

With a high volume response, great ideas were bound to come out of the discussion. Customers have also asked for the on-Call app to remember seating and mirror preferences, preferred routes, notifications of when you enter toll roads you'd rather avoid, as well as when you are near favorite destinations.

There's more we can discuss about how the app can make driving any new Volvo a pretty neat experience. Come visit us in Corte Madera, CA to learn more!
